Hi! My name is Mollie...I love music, traveling, writing, art, reading, food, yoga, being healthy, and helping to find a cure for Diabetes. I'm 20 years old and a I am a twin, and sing with my sister, mom and aunt, in a group called "Mollie and Jackie MJ2" We're signed with Sweetsong Nashville and just finished recording our first album coming out in November 2009!! I was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes on September 8, 1993, at the age of 4. With the help of my sister, mom, and aunt, we're the Founders of the "Diabetic Angels" which is a social network we've put together to help advocate, educate, and raise money for the cure for diabetes. Check it out sometime! :) I smile ALOT!!! I just love making people happy, and I know that smiling really is contagious. :) I like looking at the bright side of life rather than dwell on the bad. I cherish life and love every minute of it! :) This blog is devoted to everything related to my diabetes, and how my sister Jackie is always here to help me no matter what. World Diabetes Day

I started “World Diabetes Day” with my family, getting up early and going to the local JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes in Las Vegas…

MJ2 joining forces with Allie’s Angels at the @JDRFLasVegas Walk To Cure Diabetes with Allie and Shelby!! You guys rock! :)

Then, my sister, Jackie, and Aunt Mama right next to her, giving blood for a Diabetes Clinical Trial earlier this morning! :)

Since we were starving, we all went to lunch after the walk, and then came home to do The Big Blue Test!

Unfortunately, I proved once again that no matter how hard you try to manage your diabetes properly, diabetes has a mind of its own and on my Big Blue Test, my blood sugar started out at 421. (eek! I haven’t seen that number in months!)

It’s excactly these kinds of incidents that make managing diabetes so frustrating and dangerous….

My support system, Jackie, was here again when I bolused for my unbelievably high blood sugar.
I guess, “You Can’t Say Love Enough!”

Taking our dogs for a 14 minute walk!!!!!! :) Here’s Jackie with Gracie, and Me with Bear and Barney!!!! :)

Love the beautiful weather! We came back inside and I tested…at 2:20…301…25 minutes later I was 253, and 20 minutes after that, I was 224! Almost 2 hours later, i was 137!! :)
The good news is my numbers went down…the bad news is, it’s a very fast drop!
So, I guess I’ll test every 14 minutes! ;) hehe

Trying To Catch Up And A BIG Announcement!

Hey Everyone!

Happy Monday!! :) It was so beautiful here in Las Vegas, getting colder by the day, which is awesome! :) It was in the 80’s last week…it’s in the 70’s this week…and according to Aunt Mama (who is the group weather-woman..) :) says it’s going to be in the 60’s next week…Yay! :)

Later tonight, MJ2 has rehearsal and we’re totally loving every minute of this past year! I can barely wait for rehearsal today, much less the upcoming show itself….which reminds me, I need to vocalize….

I know it’s been a while since we’ve “written” a blog…We have so much to tell you! I’m writing a quick blog on this beautiful Monday afternoon to update you all a little! The 4 of us will keep blogging all this week….with some pretty BIG news! :) (YAY!)
Today, November 9, 2009, marks exactly ONE year since we began recording our album in Nashville, and are so excited to have had such an incredible year! We’ve worked so hard, yet it’s gone by so fast!! It’s hard to believe our first single is actually going to be available on iTunes tomorrow and our album will be released later this month!!!!

This summer, we spent 2 AWESOME week of the CMA Music Fest! We spent the first four days in the studio, recording non-stop, but we made up for being focused and disciplined by seriously enjoying the next three days…and nights! Great shows, lots of fun, especially Rio Grand, Heartland, and the Carter Twins…all were appearing at Cadillac Ranch!! However, the best part of the CMA Music Fest was watching the Country Music Fans, YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!!

On the big day, (tomorrow) ;) we will be writing a special blog, because the song ‘You Can’t Say Love Enough,’the people, the blessings, the project, and the event we’ve been working on, are so special, it needs it’s own blog!:)

It was a great day with great racing fans at another exciting @LVMotorSpeedway event! :)

Mollie's 16th Diabetic Anniversary

Today I’m celebrating 16 years of excellent health as a diabetic.

We like to call it my “Diabetic Anniversary.”

Some people don’t know why I like to celebrate this day, but for those of you who know anything about diabetes, then you understand it can be very challenging to be a diabetic and be in good health. Since I am both, a diabetic, and in good health, I choose to celebrate my good health to let other young diabetics know that they too can have diabetes and still be healthy.

By the way, I always celebrate my anniversary with my twin sister Jackie and my family…by doing things I don’t normally do….such as splitting New York style Cheesecake with Jackie, after dinner.

Needless to say, I enjoyed every last bite and I didn’t feel the least bit guilty. :)

However, I was a little sad when I realized there was only one bite left, so I did my best to cherish every morsel.

The good news is, my sadness didn’t last long…I went home, changed into workout clothes and totally went for a bike ride with my biking partners, Bear and Gracie. :)
